The world was recently caught in the shambles of a pandemic. In Sharjah, people received this news with gradual confusion, the streets were slowly swept clean, and I took my film camera out for a stroll, while I could. Al Khan Beach was quieter than it usually was, solemn with underwired anxiety. I felt that only black and white film could capture the monumental oddness that the city emitted.
